So what they did today is Canva unveiled.

A list of around 10 new AI powered features and tools

that are absolutely amazing.

I'm gonna be talking about all of the tools today.

In this episode, I'm also gonna take you back to a little bit of the history

about Canva so you guys can know a little bit more information about

Speaker: 00:01:29

this company, because I wouldn't be surprised if there's an IPO for Camp.

In the near future, and I have to tell you about the conference first.

Speaker: 00:01:37

So before I even get into the details of the nitty gritty, I wanna tell

Speaker: 00:01:42

you, my gosh, maybe it's Australia, I don't know, but maybe it's

Speaker: 00:01:47

because it's a company that you.

Speaker: 00:01:50

Thrives off of creativity.

Speaker: 00:01:52

I have to say, the themes that they used for the backdrops,

Speaker: 00:01:57

everything was so colorful, their outfits were absolutely amazing.

Speaker: 00:02:02

So you can see some of the clips from the Canva Create event, and I just have

to say the speakers were phenomenal.

The outfits were so fashionable and so on point, and they really

Speaker: 00:02:20

did a great job at telling a story.

Speaker: 00:02:22

So, let's dive into some of the exciting new things that they are launching.

Speaker: 00:02:28

But before we do, just, to get a little bit of idea about Campbell, let's

Speaker: 00:02:33

get into a little bit of the history.

Speaker: 00:02:35

So in terms of camp.

Speaker: 00:02:37

It's an Australian graphic design platform, and it was founded in

Speaker: 00:02:42

2012 by Melanie Perkins, cliff Albright and Cameron Adams.

Speaker: 00:02:48

And Melanie was teaching graphic design at the University of Western Australia.

Speaker: 00:02:54

She noticed that the students were finding graphic design software challenging to.

Speaker: 00:03:01

And this, , letter to develop an idea for a platform that would

Speaker: 00:03:05

be easy to use and that could simplify the entire design process.

Speaker: 00:03:10

And then in 2010,

Speaker: 00:03:12

Melanie and Cliff, they launched something called Fusion Books, which is an online

Speaker: 00:03:18

platform for creating yearbooks, and later that served as a foundation for Canva.

Speaker: 00:03:23

So after they secured an investment from Silicon Valley investors, which

Speaker: 00:03:27

were Bill Tie and Lars Rasmussen, who is the co-founder of Google.

Speaker: 00:03:34

Canva officially had its debut launch in 2013, and I also wanna go

Speaker: 00:03:40

over some of the factors that have contributed to the success of Canva.

Speaker: 00:03:44

So for one, they have an interface that's a drag and drop.

Speaker: 00:03:49

interface with so many different templates that you can create different graphic

Speaker: 00:03:52

design for social media, different types of sizes you can create, you know, video

Speaker: 00:03:58

graphics and design, all that stuff.

Speaker: 00:04:01

And one of the things is it's very easy to use.

Speaker: 00:04:04

So that's really important.

Speaker: 00:04:06

The other part is that they have had a business model that's had a free version.

Speaker: 00:04:11

They still have a free version.

Speaker: 00:04:13

They also have a paid version.

Speaker: 00:04:15

I have the paid version.

Speaker: 00:04:16

Absolutely love it.

Speaker: 00:04:17

But I just have to say I'm blown away with everything that I get in my paid plan.

and they continue to add so many things like they just added 10

AI tools that are game changers.

Absolute game changers.

So we're gonna get into that in a little bit.

But the other part is that they also have a very extensive library

of assets, meaning within Canva there's a ton of stock images.

Speaker: 00:04:54

There's so many different fonts, there's a lot of different, you

Speaker: 00:04:58

know, templates that you can use.

Speaker: 00:05:00

So it just gives you a lot of variety.

Speaker: 00:05:03

, to create any kind of graphics that you want.

Speaker: 00:05:05

You can create business cards.

Speaker: 00:05:06

You can create flyers, you can create eBooks, you can create,

Speaker: 00:05:10

you know, videos, you name it.

Speaker: 00:05:12

You can probably do it in Canva when it comes to graphic design.

Speaker: 00:05:16

Then the other thing is that they also have a strong community and

Speaker: 00:05:20

user base, so, . They've done a lot of marketing through word of mouth,

Speaker: 00:05:25

but they also are good about engaging with their audience on social media.

Speaker: 00:05:30

They also have great support.

Speaker: 00:05:32

They provide inspiration.

Speaker: 00:05:34

And then the other thing that they've been smart about is making these strategic

Speaker: 00:05:38

partnerships with companies like Google.

Speaker: 00:05:42

Dropbox, Instagram, and even, you know, they have also acquired

Speaker: 00:05:48

smaller companies such as Pexels and p, ay, and I didn't even know

Speaker: 00:05:53

that until today doing my research for this episode cuz I use Pexels.

Speaker: 00:05:57

And so, that's given Canva the ability to have millions of stock

Speaker: 00:06:02

images and videos and that's huge.

Speaker: 00:06:05

So now like if you look at Canva today, Canva has over 125 million monthly users

Speaker: 00:06:14

and over 13 million paid subscribers.

Speaker: 00:06:18

And what's interesting is that the total users have increased by over 40 million

Speaker: 00:06:24

since Canva launched its visual work suite.

Speaker: 00:06:27

And then you have to hear these numbers.

Speaker: 00:06:30

So Campa in terms of their annual revenue, it's 1.4 billion.

Speaker: 00:06:36

You heard that right?

Speaker: 00:06:37

1.4 billion as of March 1st, 2023, and that is up by more

Speaker: 00:06:43

than 40% over the last 12 months.

Speaker: 00:06:46

So that is absolutely huge.

Speaker: 00:06:51

Then the other thing to note is that they're just gonna

Speaker: 00:06:54

continue to grow and grow.

Speaker: 00:06:55

So as they're adding these, added features and functionality.

Speaker: 00:06:59

More and more people are flocking to this platform because it's a really

Speaker: 00:07:03

cost effective way and easy solution for entrepreneurs, business owners, content

Speaker: 00:07:10

creators, and podcasters to create content that they can use all across the board.

Speaker: 00:07:15

And let's dive into the most exciting part let's talk about what they actually

Speaker: 00:07:21

discussed today at the Canva Great event.

Speaker: 00:07:24

So one of the tools that they created is called Brand Hub.

So Brand Hub is amazing because let's say you are a social media manager, in

Speaker: 00:08:12

Brand Hub put different brand criteria in terms of like brand colors, brand

Speaker: 00:08:17

logos, brand fonts for a particular brand so that every time you're creating

Speaker: 00:08:23

content for that particular brand, you can just go to incorporate what

Speaker: 00:08:28

you have in brand hub for that brand.

Speaker: 00:08:30

And you don't have to redo all this work every time for changing the brand colors

Speaker: 00:08:35

and finding the logo and, and all of that.

Speaker: 00:08:38

And that's absolutely amazing.

Speaker: 00:08:41

So another amazing tool that they've added is called Discover Translate,

Speaker: 00:08:45

and that allows you to translate your text in your designs to over

Speaker: 00:08:49

a hundred different languages.

Speaker: 00:08:51

And this is amazing because they are really catering to this being

Speaker: 00:08:56

a solution for users worldwide.

Speaker: 00:09:00

And that's amazing because we need to have solutions that are inclusive of everyone.

So I absolutely love that they have that.

Speaker: 00:09:09

then one of my favorite, features is called Magic Write, and Magic Wright

Speaker: 00:09:15

is an AI powered writing assistant.

Speaker: 00:09:17

A little bit similar to chat G P T, . So it allows you to put in

Speaker: 00:09:21

prompts and it's gonna generate content based off of those prompts.

Speaker: 00:09:25

And what's cool is that they have expanded this feature.

Speaker: 00:09:29

Now it's not just magic, right?

Speaker: 00:09:32

It's magic right everywhere.

Speaker: 00:09:34

So you can use it all across the board.

Speaker: 00:09:36

For Campa and not just in one little aspect, which was in

Speaker: 00:09:41

docs before, like documents.

Speaker: 00:09:43

It's gonna be like all across the board.

Speaker: 00:09:45

That is one I'm super excited about because if you want to get content

Speaker: 00:09:50

for quotes and you're making a bunch of quotes for social media,

Speaker: 00:09:54

You can do that right within Canva.

Speaker: 00:09:56

Now, if you wanna get answers about the history of something, or you want

Speaker: 00:10:00

to take some content, you need it to be rephrased or you need it to be

Speaker: 00:10:04

more concise, you can do that within Canva in their tool called Magic.

Speaker: 00:10:09

Right?

Speaker: 00:10:09

And now it's Magic right?

Speaker: 00:10:10

Everywhere.

Speaker: 00:10:11

Now the next thing I'm gonna talk about, it's called.

Speaker: 00:10:15

Magic, edit and eraser.

Speaker: 00:10:17

So this is really, really cool too because what it can do is if you have

Speaker: 00:10:22

a photo and you have something in the background and you want to either, you

Speaker: 00:10:27

know, erase something that's in your image, you can brush over it right?

Speaker: 00:10:33

and you can delete that.

Speaker: 00:10:35

The other thing is you can also replace, what's in your image , with something

Speaker: 00:10:40

else that you wanna put in there instead.

Speaker: 00:10:42

So this is, amazing and you also can type what you want it to create.

Speaker: 00:10:50

So let's say that you want to delete something.

Speaker: 00:10:53

Let's say you had a flower.

Speaker: 00:10:54

That was a dandelion, and instead you wanna replace it with a rose, you can,

Speaker: 00:10:59

you can highlight that to delete it, and you can say that you want it to create

Speaker: 00:11:03

a red rose and it's gonna do that.

Speaker: 00:11:05

So, loving it, loving it, loving it.

Speaker: 00:11:09

The other tool that I think is so amazing to use is for your presentations.

Speaker: 00:11:14

So the other great tool that they have is for your presentations and

Speaker: 00:11:18

it's called Magic presentation.

Speaker: 00:11:20

So you can literally create an amazing looking presentation and basically you

Speaker: 00:11:27

can just describe your idea in a few words and you can see how it's going to fill the

Speaker: 00:11:32

slides with the story that you wanna tell.

Speaker: 00:11:34

It's also gonna help you with your creativity, and this is amazing because

Speaker: 00:11:39

it can create presentations together that are on brand, that are well put

Speaker: 00:11:42

together, that are really eye-catching and captivating to mesmerize your audience.

Speaker: 00:11:48

And sometimes you need that amazing presentation to close the deal

Speaker: 00:11:53

or to convey something at work or even in your business when

Speaker: 00:11:57

you're making that big pitch.

Speaker: 00:12:00

Try out Magic Design.

Speaker: 00:12:02

You're gonna love it for presentations as well.

Speaker: 00:12:05

Another new feature that they added.

It's called Play With Draw.

Speaker: 00:12:09

. So this feature, it really allows you to be creative because it's

more about freehand drawing.

You can pick a different size, like pen or marker to write with, and you

Speaker: 00:12:20

can basically sketch out your ideas.

Speaker: 00:12:23

Sometimes you just need a space to brainstorm your ideas, even if

Speaker: 00:12:27

you are visualizing how you want, let's say an infographic to look,

Speaker: 00:12:32

you can draw it out and you can convey your idea and then you can.

Speaker: 00:12:38

Transform simple shapes like circles and rectangles into fast thoughts and

Speaker: 00:12:44

flow charts and mind maps, and it's amazing to use within teams as well to

Speaker: 00:12:50

collaborate on different ideas when you're trying to explain who does what at the

Speaker: 00:12:55

organization, who's gonna be responsible for handling what on a particular project.

Speaker: 00:13:00

. So definitely check out.

Speaker: 00:13:02

Play with draw.

Speaker: 00:13:04

The next one I'm gonna tell you guys about is magic design.

Speaker: 00:13:09

This is amazing.

Speaker: 00:13:10

So what you do is you can upload an image, right?

Speaker: 00:13:14

And it's gonna allow you to save time by previewing multiple custom templates.

Speaker: 00:13:19

So you're gonna see which template that you want to see, and it's gonna give you a

Speaker: 00:13:24

bunch of different examples of posts that it's created based on different templates.

Speaker: 00:13:30

And this way you can even get multiple visuals.

Speaker: 00:13:32

Let's say you wanna promote an event and now you don't just have one,

Speaker: 00:13:36

you may have five different visuals created that you can promote and

Speaker: 00:13:40

you can put into your Instagram stories or you can share on Facebook.

Speaker: 00:13:45

So absolutely magic design.

Speaker: 00:13:48

I think it's super, super cool.

Speaker: 00:13:50

Definitely check that out as.

In this one I was really impressed by, it's called Create an Animation.

Speaker: 00:13:56

It allows you to create your own animation to bring your story to life.

Speaker: 00:14:01

You can drag your elements across the screen to record the path and watch them.

Speaker: 00:14:07

Literally come to life in an instant.

Speaker: 00:14:09

And that's so cool to use for videos because you could, you can overlay your

Speaker: 00:14:14

videos with these little animated objects.

Speaker: 00:14:17

Like you could have a little snowman going across, or you could have a

Speaker: 00:14:21

football, or you could have a social media icon for like a phone going across.

Speaker: 00:14:27

And I think that's what it's gonna take to create content that

Speaker: 00:14:31

really stands out and it's gonna.

Speaker: 00:14:33

super engaging because that's not something you see all the

Speaker: 00:14:36

time is animations moving around.

Speaker: 00:14:39

Some videos may have them, but the people also paid other people either hundreds

Speaker: 00:14:45

of dollars to create that are either, they spend a lot of time creating them,

Speaker: 00:14:50

and with this it's as simple as, in a few seconds you can create an animation.

Speaker: 00:14:55

So definitely try out, create an animation feature for

Speaker: 00:14:58

yourself and see if you like it.

Speaker: 00:15:00

Now here's one that I was surprised to see but super excited

Speaker: 00:15:04

about is edit with Beat Sync.

Speaker: 00:15:07

So what this does is it allows you to take your video footage and

Speaker: 00:15:13

your soundtrack and it's going to automatically sync your footage.

Speaker: 00:15:19

to the video in terms of the beats and there's gonna be, you know, music

Speaker: 00:15:25

you can pick from within campus.

Speaker: 00:15:27

Royalty free music library are.

Speaker: 00:15:30

If you have your own music that you have paid for and have a license to use,

Speaker: 00:15:35

you can obviously put that in as well.

Speaker: 00:15:38

And again, this is a game changer to create content.

Speaker: 00:15:42

Things like reels and YouTube videos.

Speaker: 00:15:45

Again, we're talking about content that's really engaging, that's captivating.

Speaker: 00:15:50

And I can tell you guys, I'm sure these are just some of the things

Speaker: 00:15:53

they've come up with right now.

Speaker: 00:15:55

I have a feeling if you come back in two months, they're gonna have

Speaker: 00:15:59

so many other tools added that are all ai and they can do so many other

Speaker: 00:16:05

things because this is just the.

Speaker: 00:16:07

But they did such an amazing job because they launched so many great tools and I

Speaker: 00:16:13

can see how a lot of people who weren't even using Canva before are totally

Speaker: 00:16:18

going to want to check it out now.

Speaker: 00:16:20

I mean, I've been a Canva user for so many years, I have to

Speaker: 00:16:23

say, like I absolutely love it.

Speaker: 00:16:25

I love it, but I'm more in love with Canva now after getting

Speaker: 00:16:29

to know more about the brand.

Speaker: 00:16:30

Cuz I didn't really know the history, I didn't know about the founders,

Speaker: 00:16:33

I didn't know their stories, I didn't know, you know, the type

Speaker: 00:16:36

of management that they have.

Speaker: 00:16:38

And I can just tell that everyone who works there is super passionate

Speaker: 00:16:43

about what they're doing.

Speaker: 00:16:45

I think they're also very innovative and I think that they wanna bring

Speaker: 00:16:49

cutting edge, technology and.

Speaker: 00:16:52

To everyday people so that they can create amazing stories and amazing

Speaker: 00:16:57

content and, you know, they can spread the word and they can also participate in

Speaker: 00:17:02

things that are gonna help the community and, you know, support great causes.

Speaker: 00:17:06

And that's what they're all about.

Speaker: 00:17:08

So I think that's absolutely amazing.

Speaker: 00:17:11

All right, so the other tool I want to tell you guys about

Speaker: 00:17:14

is, it's called Text to Image.

Speaker: 00:17:16

So with text to.

Speaker: 00:17:18

, you can think about an idea just like you would if you've used , mid

Speaker: 00:17:23

journey then you'll know what I'm talking about with text to image.

Speaker: 00:17:26

So you can type in the, you wanna.

Speaker: 00:17:28

, a Persian cat with a blue collar on, and it's going to create an image based on

Speaker: 00:17:36

your words, based on your instructions, and that's amazing because now you can

Speaker: 00:17:41

create a lot of custom artwork to use.

Speaker: 00:17:44

On your website, in your blog post, in your social media.

Speaker: 00:17:48

And because it's created based on your prompt, it's not gonna look like

Speaker: 00:17:53

something that's out there that everyone else is already using from stock images.

Speaker: 00:17:57

And to me, I love that because that gives you the ability to be more

Speaker: 00:18:01

creative and that is a game changer.

Speaker: 00:18:05

All right, so if you haven't tried Canva yourself, I don't know what

you're waiting for, but I am gonna be spending some time geeking out on

it this weekend and really playing around with a lot of these features cuz

some of these they just added today.

And honestly like I can't wait to try 'em out.

I think it's absolutely amazing.

And when you're in Canva, they have a bunch of tutorials

Speaker: 00:18:27

as well that you can watch.

Speaker: 00:18:29

They have a ton of templates and, you know, just all these new

Speaker: 00:18:32

features make it super amazing.

Speaker: 00:18:35

They have, docs in there, they have whiteboard.

Speaker: 00:18:38

You can search by the type of posts that you want to create.

Speaker: 00:18:41

So if you wanna create Instagram story post, you can type that

Speaker: 00:18:44

in and it's automatically going to give you templates for that.

Speaker: 00:18:48

It's gonna give you the right size dimensions.

Speaker: 00:18:51

You can create ads for magazines.

Speaker: 00:18:53

You can create your resume newsletter, even websites.

Speaker: 00:18:58

And like, if you think about.

Speaker: 00:19:00

On, like people use Link Tree for, you know, putting it on

Speaker: 00:19:04

their Instagram and stuff.

Speaker: 00:19:06

Well, you can create something similar to a link tree and for all your

Speaker: 00:19:09

content creators, you can create your content, portfolio , and a page that

Speaker: 00:19:14

is showing people your U G C content so that you can get more brand deals.

Speaker: 00:19:19
